Airbag resistors

Featured Replies

Anyone using them?

I imagine octy and fabia airbags run at pretty much the same resistance

Please don't turn this into a "airbags are for safety" bull - it's my choice. :P

I just want one for the passenger side please. :) I tried to reset someone's airbag light last week who had a resistor fitted - was the wrong one so it kept popping back right away.

Don't know about Skoda ones, but the ones for Porsches are reputed to be 3 ohms. I know this because I'm about to dispose of the airbag wheel on my 968 and fit a proper 3 sports spoke wheel in its place. Other members on the 968 forum have mentioned using an airbag delete kit for a Golf, so perhaps they are all the same?

According to the information I have, if it's a Fabia, then it probably doesn't require a resistor.

Still hunting. :) What about the fabia oem passenger airbag switch? Is this something I could connect up to it, to be permanently "disabled" ??

when i do datalogger tests on Mazdas with air bag faults , the ideal resistance for them is 2.3-2.4 ohms , but they have a tolerance value of something like 1.8-3.6 ohm , so a resistor in the middle range of those figures should be ok i'd imagine

you've got nothing to lose by just getting one from Maplins and pushing it into the connector and seeing whether the light goes out

if you bung in a resistor, make sure it will handle the power. if you go for 3 ohms, you will need at least a 3 watt resistor (assuming the air bag has a 12v supply). you probably have to go for a wirewound or it may go go fizz and melt.
