Reached an old time low on my vRS...

Featured Replies

39 mpg, calculated properly!

and that was fairly sedate driving...

mines is currently averaging 35mpg

totally standard engine too.

Regularly get that - car mostly used for short trips.

Got 52mpg to 48mpg recently over 1000 miles on holiday so ain't complaining at the 39mpg for around short town work.

And, certainly, the cold weather isn't going to help :thumbdwn:

Blame the cold weather and lots of good, dense air :)

Bet they're both performing fairly well performance wise though

Life's too short :drivesaf: ;)

at this rate, it's not really that beneficial to be driving diesel...

I just don't do enough steady long runs :(

Can see you're thinking, but then if that's your diesel consumption, what will MPG be like in a petrol car with similar performance? Admittedly, a petrol car will be a little more efficient for short runs as they warm up quicker, but still - think carefully....

I just think this is shocking for a derv!

my old petrol Lupo loved to drink, and I still managed 35mpg hooning it everywhere!

The worst I have had is 29.5mpg and that was stop start, stop start, prob not accurate but I don't think it would be much more than that!

i get 37mpg in mine which has been remapped but i do alot of short trips and do alot of start stop etc so taking that into account not too bad...on my run down south recently i managed 47mpg

Haha, i get 48mpg constantly through the warmer months and i drive like a tool.

at the moment the display is showing 46 average which means about 43-42 in real terms

I do however do a long commute everyday, leeds to sheffield then back again ;)

That wouldn't be so bad if Derv was cheaper than petrol, like it used to be. Still, I'm surprised at how low MPG a performance diesel returns. A comparable performance petrol engine would get what, 20 MPG?

I have a 1,3 petrol Felly and get 35 MPG!

bet I can beat that! My worst so far is 22.5mpg, over a 40 minute hoon. At the minute I am averaging about 47mpg though on steady runs, taking it easy so can't complain!

Air filter?

How clean is the air filter?

lol.. my all time low in the vRS was 13 mpg over the course of a day!!!!

however , that was in the hight of summer, at a meet in Sheffield, where it was sitting in a car park with the engine running for the sole reason of aircon to keep swmbo and HC cool ... lol......

;)

My vRS used to average 47 on a general working day, but as others have said, when the engine is cold, this will be alot less...

the fiat needs a while to warm up, when cold it will do 39 mpg..... once warmed, its up to 50 mpg......

my car just ticked over 12.5k, so the air filter should be fine!

I wouldn't mind 39mpg if I was driving like an Italian, but I've been driving sensibly!

Try getting a "real vrs" then you can start crying about mpg ................pppfff amateurs the lot of you, guts aching about 39 mpg.

Try 20:rofl::rofl:

I will be :P

I got an average of 17mpg on a track day. Used about a tank and a half in 72 laps.

The Roomy is starting to do early 50's. Shame the performance is about as inspiring as Gordon Brown's haircut.

Still worth checking. Depends how hard those 12.5k have been on it....

I've not long had mine replaced at 40K and the fuel economy has picked up by about 7MPG - it's cheaper to pay to have to replaced than blow 7MPG on diesel.
