Just bought A Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Its been fine apart from that, think my remap is pretty aggressive, scares the sh*te out of me if im honest! :D

Well my old clutch is up for grabs if you ever need it, like i said, its good as new!

Vibrations from DMF when mapped.

Some maps request too much boost too low down and the turbo sometimes goes into a surge situation. not good for the turbo and will tend to last 10k.... i know this from personal experiance ;)

Best thing to do is to save and save till you can afford a proper rolling road re-map.

Jabba seems popular, also search for DNA tuning, i am hearing good work about john @ DNA ;)

if its slipping top end my money would be on the pressureplate being dicky.

that and the ****ty flywheels these cars have...... wish i had gone for the spec jobbie now with the SMF.

Ok plenty of torque then. From what ive been reading the Angel Remaps are quite mild? So will be looking at one of those. Then when the clutch does go ill replace it.

O yeah, forgot to mention, get some vibration if i try and boot it in to high a gear and to low revs, but you just learn not to do it!

If i had known my DMF needed changing before i bought my clutch i would have gone for the SMF and helix clutch, but i had already bought my sachs organic so thought bugga it

has anyone actually had it remapped without problems?

Yes im sure, most people uprate the clutch anyways tho i think. A remap will shorten the life of the clutch, but its the price you pay!

thats ok then ill just put some money aside for the clutch then.

Have you considered that if your car has an uprated exhaust it might have already been remapped?

As some one suggested, it might be worth getting it rolling roaded.

For the record I have had a remmap on my car from the previous owner, and I have never had any major mechanical issues from it. The only think I can think of is some clips on the intercooler hoses came loose, which I have doubled up with a tie wrap. I have an early and quite mild AMD remmap, but there is still plenty of kick.

Oh and it is torque that kills clutches more than bhp.

Enjoy your car - silver is the best colour :)

hi mate congrats on the purchase mate i am sure you will enjoy it alot my jbs custom code remap is excellent and makes the car have around 170-175bhp this is not an agressive remap and should not see any vital compenents failing i should look into this if i were you they say 170bhp is a fair more usuable amount on the car overall my car is a year old and has covered 12,500 miles

yes it could well already be re mapped. Either that or it may have had a dragon chip on it. As i remember i think it was a miltex exhaust or something like that anyway

after reading these forums has anyone actually had no problems with a VRS. ? Im guessing its only the people who actually have problems that post.

Exactly right, am looking at a MAzda 3 MPS aero in 3 months and mazda forum is the same. Forum junkies seem to know than dealers (in my experiance) so perfect place to air issues.

I think that i svery much the case.

The only problems I have had with my car have been very much 'self inflicted'. By buying a used one, the previous owner is more than likely to have had all the rattle and squeak warranty problems sorted. No doubt I am going to get shot at for saying this, but I think they are ace little cars that do exactly what they say on the tin.

well thats good to know. Dont wanna be buying an unreliable car now do i. Even though you never really know with a car even the best cars break.

thats mental how on earth did your remap do that to the clutch and what remap was it?!

I cannot quite understand why everyone talks about all these remap companies and very rarely mentions Superchips! Superchips are the longest established tuner in business, they are affiliated to the VW Racing Team and have franchises all over the country. They do not go in for unrealistic gains from remaps either, so no risk of getting your flywheel and/or clutch screwed up. Yet they still offer 160bhp for the Fabia vRS!

This is what my remap did to my clutch

I must say now ive got the sach one in, its bloody superb! the remap is much more useable now, and theres no vibrations from the new DMF :D

A remap didn't do that to your clutch, your right foot did that to your clutch.

Probably because Jabba and Revo offer 175 bhp (Proven on rolling road) all be it with new intake and filter, and people want as much power as possible.

Congratulations, hope you're happy with your purcahse and welcome to the Twilight Zone, a place far away and removed from any reality, where everything is bigger, better, faster, louder and cheaper to run!

enjoy the car and welcome to the world of nigh-on supersonic furbys :)

I obviously drive mine too gently. 50+mpg overall and only topped up the oil once at around 7k (with 270ml). Original brakes - just replaced the tyres at 37,500... The only major problem was a disconnected turbo pipe twice at around 21,000 which I fixed myself after the garage refused to look at it after the first incident (which needed an AA call) - and a sun visor clip broke...
