PowerFlex Dog Bone Mount (Octavia Mk1 PD130)

Featured Replies

Initial impression

* Noise - wow this is noisy

* Idle - mmmm. it's like sitting in a washing machine

* Gear selection - perfect, so much more precise and smooth

* nice smooth take offs, little wheel spin and no bouncy bouncy.

1000 miles

* Noise - alot quieter. When cold it can still be quite noisy but soon get's quieter (still noiser than standard)

* Ide - alot less judder

* Gear selection - as before. no change

The higher the revs the quieter the noise, the noise sounds very drone like although it does change the harder you accelerate. The more gentle you are the quieter it is.

1500 miles, settling down nicely, have come to the conclusion it wont get any quieter but then it's not much noisier than standard now.

Highly recommended if you can get through the 1st couple of months.

ive got the superpro one going in this weekend ment to be specifically designed for diesels this one, see how it goes

i have the vibra technics one on my fabia, nearly 2000miles and its still driving me nuts:rofl:

I have my DIY one in - after about 1000 miles - it's perfect - unusual to get the judder that was there at first......

just thought id give my impressions about the superpro one i fitted, no increased vibration, its reduced traction loss alot, no more bouncy engine, and gear changes are very smooth a massive difference, this is on a tdi too, would definately recommend it,

Thank you very much for the reply:thumbup:

Just fitted the bushes today.

Vibrations on idle are quite anoing but i hope it will improve when everything settles down.

Gears selection is far better now, specialy from first into the second gear.

The car also feels stiffer when i push the trotle harder down.

Highly recomended mod for any octy in my opinion.

Cheers

Igor

so if I'm replacing the dog bone mount, I take it I need the front and rear bushes. Do I need any special tools to remove/refit the bushes?

All I purchased was the actual dog bone kit and I used a special tool (a mechanic) as I'm not mechanically minded. Ive been told its a doddle to fit though all you need is a certain size spanner/socket and a vice to compress the rubbers when fitting them into the mount.

And the trick is not to over tighten the centre bolt that holds the two bushes in. If you do the mount bottoms out and you dont actually get any damping from the bush.
