Skoda Parts Prices

Featured Replies

Well I am now convinced that the myth around original dealer parts are expensive has been exploded.

My n/S/f headlight bulb went 2 days ago. halfrauds wanted £8.99, local Skoda dealer charged £6.87 and fitted for me in 2 mins :D :D

i've, just bought a complete wing mirror, and a front wing inc vat it was 145 quid, bargain:thumbup:

agree paid £6 for oil filter from skoda holfords over £8:eek:

Your comparing to Halfords??????

Try comparing to a real motor factors.

PD105 Fuel filter @ Skoda £35

Same at Mon and Border (My local MF) £17

I bought a £2.49 rear bulb from halfords, on my halfords trade card. it was discounted to 46p

Now thats how much it should be.

I have a trade account at Halfrauds which actually gives a really good discount on their shelf prices.

20% off of the tools as well.

Sometimes people like to get genuine parts, my argument to that is that VAG do not make air filters, or brake pads, they get a specialist manufacturer to make them, find out who that is and you can get "genuine" parts for less.

For my old Audi they used Mann Filters not sure if they still use them across the whole VAG range.

Also the motor factors are not always cheaper, I have had it in the past when headlights and wing mirrors have been cheaper from the dealer (the motor factors couldn't even buy it for the price the dealer sold it for). A pretty rare occurrence though.

moral of this sstory is, either have a trade account at halfords (if you can get one), or shop around.

I think one of the problems I have with buying from dealers is the inconvenience, rather than the price. Halfords may be a couple of quid more, but they're open til 8pm most nights and all day Saturday and Sunday, as well as being on my doorstep.

Most of the parts desk staff I've dealt with also seem to want to be elsewhere or make buying parts difficult by wanting VIN numbers, etc. The only exception I've found to that is Hendy Ford in Winchester who bend over backwards to help and even accept I know what I'm after because I have the FINIS code, before I part with my hard-earned!

Chris

The wanting VIN numbers stuff makes it easier for them to get the bits right, as the chassis tells you everything about the car etc.

In theory...
