O2 Sensor

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently become the owner of a vRS 2003 Octavia. I've only had it since Saturday and today i got a solid engine management light on. Anyway, i've taken it to the local friendly garage who stuck it on there diagnostic machine (for £35 [is that a decent price?]) and the following errors came up.

This wasnt on a VAG COM machine but some Bosch machine.

P1116 O2 Sensor heater circuit

(bank 1, sensor 1)

Open circuit

and

P1103 O2 Sensor heater circuit

(bank 1, Sensor1)

Low power

The garage has cleared the fault codes for me and they are going to check out prices and things, i am just waiting on a call back.

I understand that this is basically the first lambda sensor..

The missus is away out in the car now, i have told her to let me know if it comes back on

Whats the prognosis?

Many thanks people. I've been reading this forum for ages in the time leading up to buying the Octavia.

This one is now mine http://www.briskoda.net/forums/skoda-cars-sale-others/octavia-vrs-2003-model-silver-fssh-62k-miles/94854/

It's a credit to it's former keepers, it's immaculate :)

Cheers everyone.

Bobster.

Just an update. The light has came back on :(

Defo; sounds like the lambda sensor has burnt out, but check the wiring....

Bosch one from local motor factor is around £45...80+ retail....main dealer 100+

Thanks Phil.

Do you know if they are hard to change? Also, could you tell me where to find it? Is it easy to get too?

I know it will be in te exhaust somewhere but where abouts?

Sorry for all the questions :o

One last question i promise :o Anyone have a part number?

They are easy to change, location is on the downpipe with one each side of the cat.

22mm spanner, the one you want to change is in front of the cat (nearest engine)

Right, it's all sorted. Got one from Eurocarparts. Set me back £82. It's not a VAG or Bosch unit the make is Walker.

So it's fitted anyway, which was very straight forward.

Will i need to error codes cleared for the EM light to go off or will it go off itself? I've driven for about 10 minutes or so (i've read it can take 20 mins or so) will it go out on it's own accord?

The light has went out by itself :)

Looks like i'm back to normal.

Good one m8  Walker one should be fine, their exhausts are pretty good quality
