is the vrs the right one for me

Featured Replies

hello there new to the site and love it as much as the fab vrs my question is is the vrs ok for me as i only do about 20 miles a day. is it bad for a diesal car to do that.

any help would be great

I do about 25 commuting, plsu other stuff which totals to around 15k a year.

My driving means I do not get anywhere near the stated MPG from Skoda

you might not see the financial benefits of it being an oil burner as much.

But if you like the car and its suitable for your needs why not :D

Its easy to drive, easy to park, has relativly cheap road tax, is fairly easy to insure and if you get bored they re-map quite well, or so i am told

plus the fabia vrs is holding onto its value quite well, it think ive lost about 500 pounds on mine in a year. I got a deal mind :D

what should i be looking for i.e cam belt change etc

Cam belt @ 4 years or 60k

Leaking rear doors= wet rear footwell carpets

Front console bushes cracking, search for console bushes on here will find more info

worn tyres, they cost between 200 and 300 for a set of 4

Make sure its been serviced right using the right Pd 505.01 oil

winning gearboxs seem a problem too

mooing brakes when reversing, simple fix though

blt engined cars suffer from the dreaded stutter 05 onwards

Leaking EGR valve, fluffy seat bolsters, stained seats, paint peeling on front bumper, juddering wipers, rear window coming unglued, general knocking from the front suspension in general, heater not knowing whether to blast you with hot or cold air....

Oh hang on, that's just my car!

OK I don't own a vRS, but the slightly lesser PD100. My commute is just under 5 miles each way consisting of 3 miles dual carriageway (dreaded A14) then a stop/start suburban crawl. I get around a bit more at weekends and will occasionally take a fast 10 mile detour on my way home just to get everything right up to temp.

In the 2.5 years I've owned the car I've averaged just under 49mpg (I calculate on every fill-up). I'm pretty certain that a std vRS would achieve very similar figures given the same useage. Despite my cars mileage, so far the engine has suffered absolutly no ill effects, uses no oil, doesn't smoke and is always smooth and quiet.

I think you'll find that a petrol engine would be more suseptable to premature wear on short journeys than a derv - bore wash and all that...

So my vote would be to get the vRS!

Mine too, must be the normanton air that does it

I have had 3 Fabia vRS's in the last 12 months ( still have 2 ) and the ONLY problems we have had have been the new SE having the stutter ( now 95% stutter free due to dealer mod. ) and again the SE having a rattly gear ****, again rectified by the dealer.

I tend to change cars frequently, but I will be keeping my old vRS for a while, as I am really impressed with it, and for me to be impressed by anything is saying something.
