To Mod /or Not To Mod?

Featured Replies

hi guys, im so new to skodas, only owned my octy vrs (elenor) for 2 months, so please forgive me if i sound stupid! i just need some advise about remaping, performance air filters etc..... if i was to have these mods done would it affect the engine in any way? for e.g... i have a replacement k+n panel air filter and dare not put it in, because i was told it would make the mixture weak or summat. i know nothing so i thought id ask people with experience. any advise is much appreciated guys

thanks.

I'll move this to the more general Octavia forum as hopefully you'll get more people answering.

Get the K&N fitted mate you will be fine.

As for other mods id always start with improving what you already have so id say do the tyres first if they are cheapo or running low.

Get the rear anti roll bar done as it will improve the handling no end

If you are lucky the remap will be great with no problems.

If you are unlucky you will experience some hesitations/surges through the rev range, which may seem minor at first but then ever so slowly REALLY ANNOYS YOU :thumbdwn::mad:

Calm down martin it will be sorted soon,it will be sorted soon.............:D

Mate you will be fine its one of those things it affects some cars and not others.

Mine has been fine so far but as the coil packs has just gone ill have to try some more testing :D

There is also plenty of other stuff to mod rather than remapping it

The standard vRS is a quick car, but if you turn your attention to the handling you can make it an even quicker/enjoyable car to drive.

A rear anti roll bar (Jabba - £150ish for the Eibach bar) and a full set of poly bushes front and rear on the front wishbones are a must and a great way of improving handling/road composure without sacraficing comfort.

An Audi S3 bottom chassis brace (£35ish from a dealer inc. bolts etc.) also makes quite a difference, the top brace does $od all, other than look good!

Weitec coilovers are excellent (I have some on my car!) cheap for what they are too - Jabba sell them @ £475ish.

Slap in the K&N and dont worry about the mixture being affected, the ECU sorts that out for you!

Downpipe and sports cat, K&N filter, a few bigger hoses and a Bailey DV30, get it mapped and your laughing!!! To the tone of at least 230bhp!!!!

Go on, you know it makes sense!!!:thumbup:

youve named your car. bless
