Aero wipers..

Featured Replies

What are they?? are they better than the normal ones?

dont know how to descride them but IME they are much better than the normal wipers and supposedly last longer.

look on ebay for them and youll find a picture of them.

a) Floppy wiper blades as per those on the MK II Octy.

B) Yes much much better visibility and wipe... however they do wear out a bit quicker IMHO.

For a MK I octy you need to get a set of Golf MK IV aero wiper arms and blades

The OEM ones with arms and blades are IMHO much better than the retrofit items, plus they are a doddle to change the blades on.

cheers guys :)

Ive got them on mine.

You can now buy them with a traditional fixing on instead of changing the wiper arms.

Ive had them on about 3 months now and thing they are the danglies really

I wouldn't bother unless you must have the look, at least as far as the Bosch ones are concerned as they do not contact the screen at the passenger side end when parked and therefore are prone to wind noise at 60 or above. The also seem to be wearing out very quickly.

I love mine and I think they're well worth doing. And the NSL here is 62 so i haven't noticed wind noise! :D

VAG Part Nos:

Drivers side blade: 1J2 955 426B

Passenger blade: 1J2 955 425B

Drivers arm: 1J2 955409 D

Passenger arm: 1J2 955 410D

The VW MK IV OEM ones that I had and Rob has fitted with arms are good.

The retrofit are variable, as it depends on the make, size and everything else as to how good they are.

i got the Valeo ones for mine

Have you had any problems with the Valeo ones? I was going to try these next as the Wiperblades people recommended them instead of the Bosch ones which don't fit (at least not my car which has never had the arms off or anything similar so I can't see how they can fit any Octavia properly)

I had them on my vRS. Great mod and finish the car of well. I got mine from Vag-parts on a group buy. Full mk-iv Golf oem.

Ive got the Valeo ones, no probs, and got them from wiperblades.co.uk. Great service, order one day arrives next.

What aero one do you need for the rear if you can get them??

Again no problems with mine and tbh i think they are holding up better than the standard bosh ones would have done by now.

Ill be going for another set when they wear out put it that way

Dont think you can get them for the Octy vRS hatch.... but on the mk1 estate I used the polo 6n arm and blade.

You can get one that looks more "aero" but actually isn't for the MK I hatch.

It's from the MY 2004 onwards IIRC.

If you live where winter weather might mean sleet in the evening and frost at night and you don't like prying the ice from your wipers in the morning, they're worth their price.

Running Bosch on SWMBO's Octy and Trico (not as stylish but cheaper) on my Felly. Both are good.

I got the Bosch ones from them and they would have changed them but I'd binned the receipt and the box so decided to just wear them out (dont think they'll see past 4 months:eek:) and then replace with the Valeo ones they also recommended. I agree they do give good service, I just don't think they fit properly.

Just noticed this thread..

Can anyone tell me if i have aero wipers on mine ? they were on when i bought the car, so cant say i've seen the originals.

Might be a bit hard to tell in the pic though.

They look like aeros to me. Not the chocolate bars, the wipers

Ahh...i wondered why they never tasted of mint when i licked them ! :D

Yes but there not OEM. It looks like you have the old style wiper arms with some after market aero blades

Thats what i have on mine and they work a treat

depends if your going for the look and function... or just the look.

I have the Golf IV arms and blades and they're great. No problems at all. They are quieter than the standard arms and they don't lift off at speed.
