N95 wireless issue

Featured Replies

Can anyone think of a reason why my N95 8gb hogs my wireless connection? If I use the phone on my network, it stops my laptop connecting, unless I go in and reboot the router... seems a bit weird!

IP conflict perhaps?

The N95 power output is by default far higher than it needs to be (100mw when 10mw is good enough). Try reducing the power setting and see if it helps.

A good tip; helps the battery life too :)

I'd already lowered the wireless output, so its not that. As far as I'm aware its not an IP conflict, and surely if I tell the connection to repair it should just assign a new ip address?

What router are you using?

My N95 used to be like a dog on a bone with the wireless connection. I ended up having to change the security to simple WEP instead of WPA - 2. Seems to work OK now.

Does the 8G use the same firmware upgrades as the cooking N95?

With firmware V20 on the normal N95, the wireless is much better and mine doesnt seem to lose the connection on my WPA2 network, even with marginal reception.

The modem/router is a Zoom X6. It just seems really strange that it stops the laptop connecting. I haven't tried the Wii or PS3 to see if they'll still connect, maybe I should do just to see if its isolated solely to the laptop. I haven't tried assigning the mobile a fixed IP address. Maybe I should give that a go...
