2007 octavia rs chip tuning and other questions

Featured Replies

1. I am planning to get my car remapped by superchips but I have questions on my mind

They state the car will have 240 hp and 310 nm torque after the remap

I wonder if my 0-100 and max speed will change after this ?

2. ABT states 240 hp after remapping and 270 hp with remapping + large turbo (intercooled) They say after 270 hp my 0-100 and max speed will be 6.5 secs and 251 km/h

Is it good for the car to have extra 30 hp or will it bring me problems in the future ?

3. A local tuning workshop also told me 300 hp could be aeasily reached with remap+ new exhuast system + air filter

???

I am really confused ...

I would like to have your comments

Im sure that the MK2 boys will be along soon to correct me if im wrong but ill have a go

1) yes your 0-100 time will improve or atleast i hope it would! I doubt very much your max speed will and lets be honest why would you want it to unless your frequently on the Autobahn

2)The extra power will be fine on your car. There are plenty of people running this level of power from a remap. The only problem you might have is that it could wear things out quicker but tbh id find that very very doubtful. Again no one i know has reported stuff wearing quicker

3)IIRC people are struggling to get to a reliable 300bhp due to fueling but again im sure that someone will fill you in with some more details soon

All things being equal (excluding gearchange timing error and assuming the torque curve doesn't change shape, ie peak shifted or flattened or more peaked, the latter is actually likely in chip tunning)

Then as a guide 0-100 (0-62) will drop from 7.5 to 6.7 secs

Again assuming no change in "shape" of power curve, just bigger and that "hp" is "hp" not "ps" and most importantly the rev range allows the additional run-on (rather than just achieving same top speed capped by rev limiter with a power surplus)

Then top speed could increase from 148mph to 155 mph

But Autocar "STOCK" vRS did 0-60 in 6.7?

Mike

0-60 takes less time than 0-62 ;)

But seriously, VAG is well known for conservative performance figures (the excuse is to cover engineering and fueling tolerances), even so the times will be relative.

If the car does genuinely have the same factory output, but achieves 0-60 in 6.7, then a 11% torque increase will see it drop to 5.9/6.0 secs

More likely it is a "VAG special" with "extra free", or it's run-in. Either way it has higher than factory stated output. Therefore there is a chance that a chip upgrade will not achieve a further 11% as it is already higher output.

If the new ecu remap injects a greater, but absolute, fuel mass then it can only realise the thermal energy conversion of that mass of fuel. (all things being equal)

I've seen Dyno runs of PD170's putting out 190bhp on RR's stock.

Then again PD140's seem to put out more than 140 too ;)

I've not timed my 0-60 yet but my max speed has gone up quite a bit.

Got a vRS TFSI, had a forge iPRO remap done, prior to this max speed was 148mph after, 160mph with a bit more left(all speeds measured on TomTom). All of which were done on a test track!!!!

Remap is excellent value money for the gains you get, it totally transforms the car:D

The advice you have been given so far is pretty much spot on so there is'nt really much to add.

From 0-100 I'm assuming kph and the figures given by VRS195 would follow but I would say that times are affected greatly by the driver behind the wheel. The BEST I achieved with timing gear at GTi International earlier this year was 6.5 seconds but that was with a car with Stage II software and associated parts but there was a VW Golf with similar upgrades posting sub 6 seconds (albeit it had DSG).

Bigger turbo conversions have only just started to become available but as far as I know no one in the Skoda community has fitted one yet but it looks as though the 300bhp barrier would be well within grasp. There are a few that are running Stage II software which will give around 260bhp which tbh is about the maximum I think is possible without a turbo conversion, and the most I've seen on Stage I is 237 bhp but my experience has been limited almost exclusively to REVO software so I have little knowledge of Superchips although the VW & Seat boys seem to be happy with it. We are having a RR Day soon here in the South where it looks like there will be quite a few MkII's running different remaps at different stages of modification so it will be very interesting to see the comparisons.

Finally dont be confused, throw caution to the wind a go and get it done as a good remap will transform the car and you'll wonder why you had'nt done it before.

have a look at the jabba sport site , they quote 250 on a custom rolling road remap, but the thing that caught my eye was toqure was up to 300nm from the standard circa 200nm , and as carol shelby always said drivers buy horsepower and drive toqure and thats one hell of an increase

I am now satisfied with all this information at the end

Thanks a lot ... :)

but the thing that caught my eye was toqure was up to 300nm from the standard circa 200nm ,

Surely thats 300 lb/ft and 200 lb/ft respectively - not newton metres. ;)
