Door Lock Removal and Refitting

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been asked before, but i couldn't find anything on it by searching.

I have to change the lock on my drivers door as the old lock just spins after some BRAT, tried to break in to my SDI. Any idea of how the lock comes out?

All input gratefully recieved

Yep..

Open the door and you will see two plugged holes in the end. Remove the plugs and you will see a torx screw behind each hole. Loosen (BUT DO NOT REMOVE) the top screw. Pull the exterior handle (as if you were trying to open the door) and hold it out. Whilst holding the handle, loosen (BUT AGAIN, DO NOT REMOVE) the lower torx screw. Eventually the handle will go 'limp' let go and the lock will just slide out. I find that putting the key in the lock (if its not too badly damaged) can be helpful to aid pulling it out. Refitting is just an exact reversal - remembering to hold the handle out whilst tightening the lower screw.

Open the door, there will be a small black grommet or the like covering a small hole. The bit of the door where the door latch is.

Take it out and there is a T25 screw in there.

Pull the handle out while taking that screw out, don't go too far, just keep checking if the barell is slack.

Then the barrel comes out.

Errmmm........ OK Finally got round to looking at the door lock only to find major head ache awaiting me. :orb_wise_:

From the advice given i located the position of the retaining screws, only problem being only the top one of them actually has a head to it, the other is just the thread in the hole.:thumbdwn:

Any one help??

Don't know what i can do to solve this other than buying a door

So as you all can guess i'm feeling abit like :orb_bonk: And getting no where FAST

Many thanks Guys again :)
