VAG-COM serial cable (RS-232)

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Seen the Serial Cable for sale on ebay, if I buy it where would I be able to get the software from and how much would it cost?

Cheers,

Gary.

Software for alternative market produced cables is available from the creator of the VAG-COM Diagnostic System: Ross-Tech, LLC. Before you buy the software, you should try it by using the shareware version and if all goes well, you can return to the Ross-Tech website to pay for a full license of the product. It costs $99.

Are you certain that the interface cable you are looking to purchase will work with your Octavia? You should check their return policy if you are not certain about whether it will work on your car.

You should be aware that the shareware version is quite old now. For the latest version you need a cable from Ross-Tech.

So will this serial cable work on a 2002 Octy vRS, if I download the software from VAG-COM? Or as it is quite old are there things that it would not pick up?

I think it will be OK. Check the Ross-Tech site for what the old (4.09) version doesn't do.
