Featured Replies

hi guys and gals merry xmas to you all..strange happened tonight i was coming down the dual carraige way and was botting it against a 182 cup clio anyway it was neck and neck he could not get past me which was a bonus but when i went to go into 5th gear the engine seemed to die with absolutely no power so turned off and pulled up the engine was running fine but had no power anyway i was on dead red no fuel so i stumbled to a petrol station and put 30 quid in set off and the car was completely fine and has no done the same fault comng home is it a security feature on the car when you get to low fuel? anyone else come acros this ..bonus thing is the 182 could not get past me yippy!!!! lol

Sounds like an overboost fault, quite common, especially on remapped engines, when running at high revs for a sustained period.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. :)

cheers mate for the reply will it always do this then is it a sign that something will break eventually lol cheers

Yeah, common issue. Been mentioned a few times.

Mine has been going into this 'Limp Mode' your describing for weeks now - which is corrected by turning the car off then back on. My advice to you however is its only a problem if it keeps doing this regulary, and more to the point it wont actually be logged as a fault until it keeps doing it regulary, unless its more serious then it will fault out straight away.

My Furby has been going into Limp all week, however only yesterday did the ECU light come on, and after calling out Skoda Assisstance it was Diagnosed with 17964/P1556/005462 - Ross-Tech Wiki

I guess its a trip to the stealers tomorrow. :(

Might be quite an easy fix. The 17964 usually comes as a requested / actual variance, which could just be from a loose hose clamp. It could also be a sticky turbo, but hopefully the stealer will be able to sort it out. :) PS: I think I got this fault when I had a fault thrust sensor too, so you might be able to amaze them with some knowledge by mentioning it to the chap/lady on the service desk. ;)

Cheers for the heads up Jason. :) Means alot.

I made a thread about this about two weeks ago, my beloved girlfriend...I mean Fabia kept going into limp mode after the Stealers fitted a new turbo after my last one blew up horrendously. It dumped all the oil out the exhuast, so I thought maybe it damaged a sensor and was causing the limp mode. Sadly though it was never permeanant and thusly the ECU light never came on, so nothing came up on an ECU scan, and naturally I saw no point in taking her back to the stealers because with no fault code I guessed they couldnt do anything.

I'm just kinda glad its finally gone for good now as we all have something to work on. On a side note however even before she goes into limp mode now she is running as rough as a three-legged dog. There is no boast until late, its gutless until then - and even when she does boost its nowhere near as it should be.

Going back to what you set about the lady on the desk, the service rep lass at Ashmore Green Skoda in Newbury is hot as you like. :D When I had the Furby in for its blown turbo she was extremely friendly. ;)

Got good "service" eh? :D Get a pic next time you nip in. :P

Well, if you've had a new turbo recently, then they should perhaps know where to look. It's possible the thrust sensor was damaged. Not sure what else a turbo implosion can really damage?

Well thats its Jason; I wondered if maybe there is a sensor in the CAT that could have been damaged by the many litres of sump oil that followed the nuclear holocaust style implosion; bar that I can't really think of much either.

Not DPF is it? If not, then there's no sensor down there at all, so you can rule that out. If it took out the internals in the cat, then that's a bonus. Free decat.

DPF as in diesel particulate filter? I think Fabia vRS's have DPF's don't they?

Originally no, but I have no idea on the newer ones to be honest.
