Cooling Fan - Which Fuse?

Featured Replies

My Octavia 2.0 dti DSG (2007 model) seems to have developed the fan running on problem, i.e. the cooling fan runs despite the engine not being hot, for several hours after parking up. The fan running is random on and off for no apparent reason.

My question is which fuse disables the cooling fan? I checked the handbook and the layout I have seems to be the second schematic, which doesn’t appear to show the fan fuse. Unhelpfully one the first schematic in the handbook the cooling fan fuse is marked (38 I think). Anyone have any idea on how to save the battery without completely disconnecting it? I will not be able to get to a dealer for a few days and want to try to keep the battery up.

Thanks,

Jimmy

Just pull the plug off the back of the fan...

The fuse is likely to be a maxi-fuse that isn't in the main fusebox.

Won't it be in the fuse box in the engine bay in front of the F/N/S suspension turret?

Mine is under the dash trim below the steering column.

Thanks, booked the car in for a replacement fan/fan controller. It appears to have settled down now, only running on for a few minutes unlike boxing day when the fan ran for three hours!

The local dealer (Palmers of Waford) were very helpful, they check out the car on 27/12 and ordered the part under warrenty.
