Uprgraded CD player to MP3 - easy

Featured Replies

55 plate fabia VRS with standard symphony CD player. I wanted to player MP3 via the CD changer socket at the rear.

Bought an AUX INPUT ADAPTER from car Audio Centre (part no CTVSKX001).

I was dreading removal of the unit as many said it was rather awkward.

Bought a pair of removal tools from Halfords (only a few quid)- the Kenwood ones fit.

1)Inserted tools - and the CD unit came out easily.

2)Then pulled out the oddments box below for more access.

3)Inserted the AUX INPUT ADAPTER cable into the socket on the rear of the unit as described in the instructions and earthed it via the black wire to the CD unit chassis.

4)Drilled a small hole in the back of the oddments box for the cable which attcahed to the headphones socket on the MP3 player.

5)Pushed the box back into position.

6)Managed the place the AUX INPUT ADAPTER "control" box behind the oddments box to lie underneath of the rear of the CD player.

7)Pushed the CD player back in. Hey Presto it worked.

Total time less than 1 hr inc making a connector for the earth wire.
