Has anyone successfully retrofitted xenon headlamps?

Has been asked before and the general concensus was that it is way too difficult/expensive to warrant trying.

Just buy some uprated bulbs and set them up correctly

will HID kits not give the same effect?

DIY HID's are the same technology as the OEM xenons but there are certain 'grey areas' due to the lack of headlamp washers and no auto levelling.

There is also the issue of the beam pattern possibly being different and the bulb failure system might throw a wobbler unless it can be disabled. As the Octavia headlamps focus the beam through a lens the beam pattern could be ok.

Blue lights are restricted to the emergency services :P
