Featured Replies

on the way home from the pub last night the wife was driving home as id had 1 to many  and i noticed a lovely crack in the windscreen

£75 excess on a windscreen thats not 6months old

this happened to me recently, my excess is only £50 so not too bad.

although the new one is now scratched due to the wipers having grit or something on them!

i'd rather pay and have it replaced than drive with a crack like that. on the works vehicles they try to make you drive for weeks on end to save money. however a clipboard over the crack and a very hard thump usually encourages it to grow enough so its replaced ;)

Is it worth trying your local dealer to see if it's a manufacturing defect? It doesn't look like a stone/brick has caused that.....

i lied, ive only had the car 2 months. there is a very tiny, almost un-noticable, stone chip right on the edge of the glass. if it happens again i will be phoning skoda. ive had nothing but problems since ive had this car

still fun to drive :D

Sorry to hear about th windscreen mate. Have had that happen before when someone tried to lift my car from a mall parking lot.

Not to hijack a thread, but what do you mean when you say it has been problematic? This is a new generation Fabia, right (it says 105hp in your avatar - 1.6 petrol or 1.9tdi?). What problems have you had? Just early model glitches or more serious things?

Just wondering, as I'm thinking about keeping my Fabia 1 combi for another six months until they get new combis here.;)

Thanks,

Nate

1.9, its only little problems, but things that shouldnt be happening to a new car. first the boot doesnt shut properly, you have to slam it to make it shut. then there was the leaky door seal, that got fixed last week. then this cracked window.

I've heard of the boot closure difficulty. I assume that should be just an adjustment, no? The leaky door seal, well that sounds just Skoda-ish to me. Lol. Hopefully the dealer will sort everything soon and leave you with a trouble free car for a long while.

Cheers, and happy new year.

That sort of thing annoys me no end. If your screen is cracked then it is dangerous and needs replacing. It really boils my p*ss that employers are prepared to compromise your safety in order to save a few quid.

It accounts for 30% of the structural safety of the car in an accident, tell them to get it done asap.

mine did that, a month after I picked it up.

was a chip right on the edge of the screen sadly :(
