What costs

Featured Replies

U may remember me telling you that my son wanted a Felicia Fun a while back, well thats worn off but he's got a new job and wants a Fabia vRS, but theres 1 thing, he wants two cars,

He wants to know how much it would coust (If they would even) to insure a Brand new driver to A fabia vRS, i told him its insurance group 11, but we really wants to wipe the smile off his freinds face (1.1 Saxo) lol, but How much will it cost him, or will they even insure him.

Second he has A car allready, its (Way off topic, sorry, but any ideas welcome) it's A 1982 Pontiac Firebird TRANS-AM, it's got a 5.0V8 i think 300bhp engine, but im cert on the 5.0, Its LHD, Imported and is currentley being customized to Full KnightRider interiour and Exterior (God help me)

I told him theres no way in hell they will insure him, do I even need to ask if im wrong :) ?

Fabia yes although it may be around

vRS is going to be very high, try a 1.9 TDi if he wants to beat a 1.1 Saxo, it's only a group 6. Pontiac Firebird for a new driver

Wow, If I were an insurance salesman I'd tell him to P$^# off is he wanted to insure a fibreglass car with such a big engine, but because this is a "Show peice" how about limited mileage policy, could u really cut costs by doing that, it will only drive around when really needed in an emergency so, maybe 150 miles a month, and as for the 1500-2000 i presume thats a year right :)

Yes that is for a year, but only a rough guess, use insurance websites for a more accurate quote.

R.E the Pontiac: even with a limited milage policy, with a young driver insurance would be sky high as you have to think about repairing if something happened, or if it was stolen (as they are rare in this country and replacements will be a bugger to source, even as a show car, you are looking at a lot of money)

To gauge, last year before i brought the fabia vRS I got a quote on an Octavia vRS (I was 23 at the time and had 1 yr NCB, 3 pts and 2 accidents in the last 3 yrs) and was offered

Also remember that as the car is an import and LHD this will also bump up the premium. Putting a Cat 1 alarm on might bring the costs down on both policies.

Only other option is something like a Fiesta TDCi which maybe available with free insurance ????

I also Wonder, though I wont question my son, whether its actually legal to drive, A red light on the front, a Gullwing Steering wheel and the TV's that are mounted on the dashboard. Also, My son wanted to know what "class" this car is in, is this a car thats going to struggle to overtake a Saxo or will it happily knock a RS Octavia into place?

How can he have done so much work on this car, and not know the answers to these questions? :)

And no, you may not display a red light to the front of the vehicle. :(

All that is really Involved in the Conversion, is the Front bumper, Scanner Light and Dashboard, then it's pretty authentic. So my Son hasnt played with any of the engine or anything, though it sounds as sweet as hell when it idles and at low speeds, The Scanner bar (Thats the flashy red light) has a on/off and Speed control Box, Couldnt you just turn it off if a police car comes your way? Also, do you need to tell the insurance company about the changes to the car?

Sure you could turn off the front facing red light when police appear, but you have to think why it's illegal in the first place!

Dave.

would be suprised if TPFT cover was more than 500 on the pontiac through a specialist insurer....

Might be worth trying a specialist insurer that deals with imports for the pontiac.... and wouldnt it be classed as a classic now?

IIRC, the fab vrs is group 9a insurance.

You've probably come across this thread. Has lots of people insurance premiums listed for the fabia vrs.

When I got my fabia vrs, although I have been driving for the last 4-5 years, I never had a car insured under my name, so no NCB. With elephant, it's around
