Alarm

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

two quick queries if possible, i was digging around looking for information on the alarm (01 octy mk1) as recently its making a double bleep noise 6-7 times in succession after unsetting the alarm.

i had a dig around in the front passenger footwell, and found a "sikura" alarm with 4 cables coming off it, power, two sensors and the blinking light/receiver. is this sikura alarm stock or OEM? or has a previous owner fitted it?

I'm having serious dificulty finding any useful documentation on it.

atleast your alarm works, mine is the elgance which is supposed to have full factory alarm, but i tried it the other day, locked the car as my mate was getting something out the back, and nothing happened, where on my golf the alarm sounded. but there you go, good old skoda stuff.

As far as I was aware the MK I only has an immobiliser and not an alarm.

I know my MK I elegance didn't have any alarm

The Mk1 vRS didn't have an alarm as standard, I'm not sure if it was an option. Mine (WRC) has a factory alarm. The Siren is located under the scuttle behind the wiper linkage and the interior sensor is behind the ashtray/climate control panel, inside the dash.

So, in short... the 'Sikura' alarm you have found is not a factory fitted item. I have heard that a lot of dealers offered an alarm as a retro-fit item but I'm not sure what brand it was.

Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it.

For the record, and hopefully this will help anyone else who tries to google sikura and alarm.

That double chirp/beep noise is to tell the owner that the alarm has been activated while the car was idle.

I had my boot lock replaced recently and it has two states of closed, closed hard and closed'ish. These are differentiated by a hard or soft closing.

when the boot was "closed'ish" the boot was for all intensive purposes closed but still semi loose/rattled. and the wind etc was catching it and causing the alarm to go off, i discovered this after leaving the car out on a particularly windy day and my battery was dead when i returned.
