Rapid 136 on ebay

That's nice!

I bet you it's rotten underneath , or he'd MOT it himself before selling

Im thinking that too especially so close the expiry date, there are photos, but as always with items on eBay like this - it is what is not seen or said, and of course you always get bidders that havent actually looked at the car itself

OOooooh that's tempting! I always fancied a Rapid after years of regular Estelles. It actually looks very tidy to me - one problem none of my Estelles had was corrosion underneath, they were all pretty well coated and went to the scrappie for crash damage and/or multiple mechanical failures.

Before you do yield to temptation :) make sure you actually see and inspect the car before popping a bid in - go on you know you want too :D

Funnily enough I may be driving by that way tomorrow evening - if I do get to see the car I'll report here! Trouble is, I'd have to get rid of the Favorit on which I've just spent more money than I'll get back: I live in a flat with only onstreet parking and keeping multiple cars is just not practical - they've all got to be taxed etc. and it's a headache I can live without.

:)If any S.O.C.G.B. or BriSkoda member buys this and wants it given the once over F.O.C. on a ramp then feel free to call in at the garage I run in Royston, Herts if you're passing. I realise you'll have already paid for the car by then, but I do have a fair bit of experience with these cars and am happy to offer any advise on anything that may need attending to.

:cool:These cars used to go for peanuts, I'm glad they are beginning to be recognised for the great cars they are.:)

wish you would czech my car out Dave but she's around 900 miles away...

(missing her badly)

Hi,

It's my Skoda on eBay right now.

I would keep it, but I am trying to save money and as I already have my 105 Lux and live so near work, I cannot justify the running cost of 2 cars.

Yes, it does have some corrosion, but as I garaged the car it is not as bad as it could have been. The O/S wing has rusted along where it bolts to the body (in the rain channel), the N/S sill may need doing and the rear arches are a bit crumbly (one side worse than the other). I even imported a pair of repair sections to do the job myself, but not being able to work on the car by my house makes it tricky.

I don't really want to sell it, but I tell myself that a 105 Estelle is enough for now.

My Rapid would make a good project - what rust there is is 'contained' as it were and can be cut out and replaced.

Any questions - just ask - no BS from me on these forums.

Nothing being hidden by me not MOT'ing it. I am just making a clean break from it. I have a close relative who is coming out of hospital today and free time is not on my side. It passed last Jan with no provisos - it may well pass again (been garaged all the time and only 2000 odd miles since) but I know the back inner sill is a bit tired so a pass is not guaranteed. The sill repair I had done on the O/S was under £100 and incliuded the outer sill, inner and around 1 ft of box section.

Any questions just ask.

bottom of the car is fine

Glad it is working out well for you - I do miss the car, but I know it is in good hands, so I am not worried. Keep us posted - photos too if poss:) would be great!

Ian,

dont worry i'll look after her. I had fun starting her this morning because i need to charge the battery up, and finding the balance between choke and throttle can be an art form:confused:.

ive got a weber on the way so that should sort those problems out.

i have some 15" empi's to put on her and have decided to keep her the same colour. the battleship grey is growing on me. i have a few mods on the horizon.

clear coolant piping,

75deg thermostat,

foam rubber on the bonnet underside

avo springs

electric fuel pump.

now the days are getting longer and hopefully drier i should be able to give her the attention she deserves. once i start getting her together(not that she isnt already) i will take pics of her.

i am taking her to the south coast skoda meet at marwell zoo so will get a few pictures of her there no doubt.

starting to learn how to double declutch and find my way around the box:).

i hope the estelle is running ok
