I know I know It is a vw question?

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

As you seem to be a fountain of knowledge on all things VAG I have a question to ask you for a friend........

He has a 53' plate passat 1.9 tdi estate (100ps) and is currently having a problem with the alarm going off intermittently whilst parked up, he has tried all the basic things to stop it but has yet to find a cure. He has just had the car to an autoelectrician who found no faults showing on the diagnostics.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated or any ideas as to where to source info.

Thanks in advance.

How is the convenience controller, not sure where it is on a passat, but has it got quite wet?

I had a strange issue with mine a couple of months back. I posted on here about it, and one clever chap pointed out that it could have been an insect triggering the interior monitor sensor, which AFAIK is housed beside the climatronic air con display.

My alarm had never given trouble, but over a two day period, had given off at least half a dozen false alarms.

I never found out for sure, but I strongly suspect a spider or such like.

Is that the current Passat? My alarm is going off intermittantely and have been told theres an updated motion sensor control module for it. Its not so long ago where it had to be replace because it would go off at all.

check the plenum chamber, thats fill up with water then it gets in the car and into the passenger foot well where the convenience control unit is, if there is remove the battery an there a rubber bung under it pop a hole in it then the water will drain out, unfortunately theres lots of wiring that can also be damaged in the foot well, its quite expensive too,
