pd160 intake and remapping questions?

Featured Replies

hello every one, im fairly new to the forum and ive just picked my fabia vrs up about 2 hours ago!

id like to say im very very impressed with it already and since looking on here and a few tuning websites i now know that theres plenty of off the shelf bits for the fabia to keep me enteretained for a good while :D

ive seen one a few threads a mention of the seat ibiza pd160 intake pipe? and a less restrictive panel filter, where is the pipe that the pd160 pipe would replace? is it from the grille to the airbox? or somewhere else?

also although i cant afford to do it now i am going to get the car remapped at some point soon, wheres the best place to get it done?? revo, amd, jabbasport etc?

thanks

its the pipe that runs from the airbox to the front of the above where the radiator sits. It also includes the opening too. I've had a Green cotton filter on for some 60k with no issues and other have had other panel filters its all down to personal choice.

The same can be said with re-maps, each to their own. Mine is a Jabba Sport re-map I personally cant fault them for service, but the RR results are over read i.e. 190bhp = 176-180 on other RR but the torque seems the same.

Oh and welcome to the forum!

thanks for that, i do feel a bit of a **** now having done a search on the pd160 pipe and seeing that theres loads of threads already made

regarding the filter id prob keep the box on and get an after market panel filter, although am i right in thinking that you can derestrict the airbox also by removing some bits from the inside???

i looked at jabbasport and ive heard alot of good things about them over the years :) does it make a big difference then the jabba remap? oh and have you gone for a generic or custom?

cheers

I think you can move the bit at the "trumpet" end which may increase the air, I've not done it myself but I'm sure there is a member that could shed some light on that.

Yep just abit, but to be fair I cant remember what the car was like to start off with its been so long now lol. Mine was custom which you go for is down to personal choice. Really do read as much as you can on here about re-maps and then maybe PM a few people for their views.

I'd also fit some good tyres as grip will be an issue on a remapped car (if your heavy footed).

Congrats on your new car first of all! :D

I had a Jabba remap done just before Xmas and am delighted, both with the performance, and service. I went for the custom option and had a 160 pipe fitted on the day (as well as springs and an ARB)

PMSL!!!!

welcome!:D - as far as grin factor and modding entertainment - you've got a winner believe me. (Just did an Italian tune-up on the way to work right now,)

Lotsa stuff about airfilters/intakes on here, but I think I would be safe in saying any good make re-useable filter and the PD 160 intake are as good as it gets, even on highly-modded cars. Just decide if you want to yank out the little trumpet at the intake mouth, which is there to stop water ingress or not.

As far as remaps - everyone has their own favourite tuner...And it gets sort of like supporting a football team - mine is better than yours kinda thing.....

Make sure you keep some money spare (£1000 or so) for an uprated Clutch as you WILL in time with a remap need one.......

thanks for your warm welcome and very constructive post :finger:

I am as unconstructive as you are lazy - now go finger yourself.

I don't think he was being lazy, he was saying hello as well so give him a break - I know I often forget the search!

Maybe, but I'm not going to give someone a break who flicks the :finger: four posts into a forum.

Hmmm good point Mr Reed!

Because it's been said a hundred times before...... just try to search - go on you might like it.

If every topic was covered a thousand times think of the trawl we'd all have to do to find useful info.
