Combi Back Hatch Fretting

Featured Replies

I've had a combi for 6 months now and have noticed a minor problem.

The lip of the back hatch contacts the top of the bumper threshold when its shut - on the area which is unpainted. I guess with vibration and grit from the road this is abrading the lip and the bumper. There is an area on the threshold about 300mm long and 3-5mm wide which is scratched. I notice when the weather is wet, water and grime builds up at this point, when I guess it should drain down the back of the bumper.

I note the paint has been rubbed off the lip too - down to primer.

Is this normal? No major problem, but this is bound to be a corrosion issue long term on the hatch.

Any thoughts?

I've on my second mark II Combi and i've never seen this problem before.

Get it to the dealer to be sorted out or like you say, it could cause problems in the future.
