Are they not only £22 new ?

Yep, they tend to be cheaper from the dealers than from eBay in my experience. Alan (th4neuk) has one for his black vRS, I'm not sure if it's on yet but it might be worth sending him a PM if he doesn't see this thread.

Yea, so only £3 more- and it is new on ebay. Means I don't have to sort anything out but order it to my house :)

I shall do after lunch

Cool, thanks. Just bought one by the way.... :D

Call me chicken but i will not be buying one.

Looking at my current bumper it would not last two minutes :o.

Don't say that :P

I've got two speed bumps on the way into work, hopefully it'll still clear it ok....

Probably fit it and end up ripping half my bumper off

I Haven't fitted mine yet. Hoping to do it on Sat morning if the weather holds.

I paid £20 from the dealer for it. Ordered it and picked it up within a couple of days. Comes in the VAG plastic wrapper.

Actually bought 2 as i'm going to fit one to the superb too.

Cheers

Hmm, what screws are people using for it?

Do I have to drill into the bottom of the bumper first, or will the self tapping screws bite their way in?

It's plastic the bit which it drills into isn't it?

have a search as ive posted pics of my black octy with a splitter on notlong ago

I used self tappers on mine. I decided to do it this way so that if it does get ripped off, the screws just pull out rather than pulling chunks out of the bumper.

I've scraped mine a couple of times now, I find the ramps in and out of petrol stations cause the problems, of those where they have a 'dip' for the interceptor on the way in and out... it's still nice and secure, though, so I'm not too worried.

Cool, thanks Phil.

Where can I get them from? First time i've ever done anything like this :D

Self tappers require no drilling?

id pre drill them with small holes as they can be a right pain in the posterior to screw in whilst laying on the floor (in my case). they get very tight but i got my self tappers from focus diy for about 2.50 ish

I have a mate who works in the parts dept at Seat ;)

Will order one some day.

Nice one mate, it was posted today so something to do on the weekend... or if I get it by Wednesday I'll do it on my training day :D

Hiya,

I've bought a box from screwfix for peanuts. They are stainless so shouldn't leave nasty rust marks. My plan is to drill holes in the spoiler then smaller pilot holes in the bumper and let the screws do the work.

Cheers

Pre drilled mine too as the self tappers will pull up the plastic that is being stripped by the new holes being created. I can also post pics in anyone needs them. I have also christened mine with a few scrapes.

cant get it to load into the freedom section. pics on email request

here's mine. i pre drilled the splitter then used self taping screws to fix it in.

you will find that the front edge of the splitter will end up being the same height as the bumper by the wheels so it wont be a problem with the bumps.

just dont break when going over them. slow down before them!! the other one to look out for is parking face in on to a kerb.

andyrew you have PM

Hmm, I picked up some 20mm self tapping screws.

They seem a little long, is there anything under the bumper that I could snag the screws on? :o
