Warning light

Featured Replies

Hi guys twice in the last week upon setting off the red warning light with the temperature symbol has lit up and started beeping .once when the car was warm and temp running just below half where it always sits and once on the wife today when setting off from cold both times the car felt and drove fine but once we pulled over turned car off and then started it up again the light was off and the beeping stopped. Has anybody has this fault before or do you think its just a sensor problem ?????

Cheers

Dave

Sounds like the common fault with the sensor inside the coolant header tank.

There are two metal prongs, I think they probably just get dirty over time, but you can change the whole tank complete with sensor for abotu £11, so that's what most people do.

This problem seems to appear during cold weather.

Yup, there's another thread going about this one at the moment. I've been advised to scrape the terminals on the sensor with a small screwdriver, this should remove any build up of crap or corrosion and sort the fault. Worth a try for nothing, if not replace the header tank.

I think it is just a case of removing the bubbles that build up on the two metal prongs in the tank.
