vrs oil change

Featured Replies

My vrs is remapped with custom code as such i think changing oil every 5000 rather than 10000 would be sensible. Got a quote from a dealer and a VAG independant - one was 93 the other 96 quid for an oil change- seems a bit steep to me?? How much are materials and how mauch labour for an oil change? Is it easy to do yourself?(i'm not the most handy person in the world but have managed to change the odd spark plug in the past?

Just had mine done today by my local garage - uses the correct PD spec oil and OE filter. Charged me £82 all in. Approx £27 oil, £5.50 filter, £38 labour - all plus the vat.

This was my 30K service, but was only a lube as I do 20K per year.

VAG diesel oil changes are pretty simple, filter for one is right in front of you under the engine cover.

cheers

Quite easy job to do.

You need to get the car up in the air a bit as you need to take the undertray off to get at the drain plug(I use ramps),oil is around £30,filter around £6 and a new sump plug around £3.

It should take about 1 hour to complete the job.
