1.9 D wont start after filter change

Featured Replies

Hi

Engine started to choke in cold weather(-10c). I just bought the car so i taught that fuel filter has not been changed for a long period.

Changed the filter, i was in a hurry and didn't fill it up before starting the engine. Engine didn't start...

Tried filling the filter and fuel lines - engine did not start

Washed the fuel tank and fuel lines, nothing...

Fuel injection pump seems to be working because the filter empties but it does not seem to be able to pull fuel from the tank.

Solenoid and glow plugs are ok too.

Has anyone had similar problem after installing new fuel filter?

P.S. Engine started fine before the filter change...

i was wondering would it help if i flipped the fuel filter and pour diesel through the filters water outlet while the fuel lines are still connected to the filter...

If You can get hold of one of those rubber squeezy bubbles which Renault use as a fuel lift pump it can be a magic tool.

Simply fill ur filter and fit it,then use ur squeezy to draw the head of fuel through it,remembering to have a suitable receptacle to hand to catch the diesel as it runs through.

Reconnect the fuel lines and hit de button...should do the trick !!

PSA use the same manual primer system as Renault use, on engines the same vintage as the Felly diesel one. Just supplying another source of the part.

I have had the same problem...

You have to fill the filter before installing it, the fueltank should be as full as possible and you have to lift the rear of the car as high as possible, than it should start:)
