Car costing me a fortune at the mo....

Featured Replies

Had to tax it at the end of December and then had it MOT'd yesterday. It passed (as it bloody should do after already recently replacing all 4 tyres, front discs and pads and most of the suspension bushes).

Had to drive a lovely rusty P reg purple Daewoo Espero CDI as a 'courtesy car' in the meantime.

And it got thrashed to death.....reminded me of my younger days driving round in my MKII Fiesta.

I can tell you the Fabia felt like a Lambo after driving that heap. Made me appreciate it all the more though when I got back in it. Sharp steering, power when you need it, fairly quiet. Luxury.

Anyway, the car is due it's cam belt next Month so it's booked in at Awesome to have this done. They quote £295 plus vat for the lot inc metal water pump. Seems ok to me?

Sigh, money money money..... :(

I know what you mean, cars are an expensive hobby  Mine is going in next week for the front bumper to be repaired (paint flaking) and the spoiler to be repainted (the clear coat has come off) :thumbdwn: I don't really mind, it isn't costing me that much (I have found an honest body shop) and I plan on keeping it for a few years :D

Mine seems to be non stop recently too.

Bent drive shaft 100 quid + new box mount and dog bone(40) cheers jason ;)

Then my wheels refurbing 130 then tyres 270.

It needs a cam belt 295+vat

then i need this new dash pod mileage changing 20 quid (beer money for mate)

Then the whole thing still has to have a geo at awesome 70 quid

And thats not even thinking about my future turbo swap.

i think ill be leaving it alone from now on

Forgot Tax and insurance due at end of feb too :(

Ahhh it's all good fun :D

Cambelt at Awesome sounds about right mate :)

Steve

Expensive month for me too. Insurance, breakdown, new rear silencer and 4 tyres! Still, hopefully that'll be it for a while again :D

Chris

er...... I paid my finance for the car, and £26 insurance :) oh, and about £430 in fuel!!!! :(

Last month, bought the car and now I'm enduring crippling £160 monthly insurance payouts! The garage did the MOT and Cambelt before I bought it so I'm hoping for no more payouts for some time.

How quickly do these things go through tyres? I drive averagely, with occasionally spirited sessions...

i'm in trouble this month too, expensive clutch, peloquin lsd,got to collect my cupra console bushes allready fitted in consoles, and some kw v1 coilovers, plus fitting of the clutch and lsd on top of this, answers on a postcard for cost, cos i darn't even think about how much i have spent and am about too spend, and i thought last months bodywork mods were dear:D

breakdown,

Chris

Forgot about that....just renewed that too this month too!

It's annoying that it's all come at once. Servicing the Fabia is not really a cheap do TBH...due every 10k and the oil is pricey. Then there's the cam belt.....why VAG didn't used a chain I'll never know. Other German marques have been doing it for years and isn't the TDCi a chain?

Insurance went up when I declared the RARB and cupra bushes too. Sigh.
