GPS/SatNav for laptop,best system???

Featured Replies

am looking to purchase a GPS/satnav system for my laptop.

does anyone have any experience with any systems and could offer some advice.

require it to have a good antenna and include Europe due planning trip in the next few months.

also will require a in-car charging pack for the Laptop.

any help/advice much appreciated.

I've used it for a while and although it is very nice to have a graphical display on the laptop, the location (passenger seat) is less convenient. Sunlight means that you won't be able to see anything on the display, plus being to the left of you it means lots of frantic looking to the left whilst trying to keep an eye on the road. I used Infomap Navigator which includes spoken word, and that worked reasonably well... except for the times when the laptop decided to hang and you then have to stop, reboot it and re-enter the route. Have since bought a Blaupunkt DXR52 and am very pleased with that.
