Fabia VRS light bulbs popping daily - wierd

Featured Replies

Hi all

Well I got my car back from having the turbo fitted as per this thread

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/fabia-vrs-turbo-seized-32-000-miles/98432/

I turned on the engine to leave the dealer and PING! the bulb warning came on to indicate one of the tail lights had blown.

Straight back in and £1.36 later I had a new bulb fitted.

Outside, turn on the engine......all clear

Then touch the brake and PING! bulb warning light comes on to show that one of the brake lights had blown - wierd

Straight back in they didn't charge me for the new bulb this time.

Did about 25 miles in it the next day and just as I was parking up at the end of the day PING! I think both brake bulbs have gone although tail lights are OK

Wierd!

Connected with turbo repair? Screwed with wiring in engine bay?

Any ideas otherwise its gonna cost me a fortune in replacement bulbs :thumbdwn:

summats knakcered, take it back.

Brake light switch normally makes the glow plug light flash when it goes.

If it were me I'd be getting the old multimeter out. The bulbs will have a rating on them.....if this is exceeded then they'll blow.

i wouldn't be checking anything, its under warranty so let the dealer do its job.

check the alternator voltage output

check the alternator voltage output

Should be around 13.8v IIRC with the measurement taken from the battery terminals.

took it to the dealer (another bulb popped while they were testing it so that's 4 in 3 days)

they hooked it up to their fancy diagnostics gubbins and insist voltage is fine....

they say if it happens again bring it back for longer (they only had an hour on a sat morn)

we shall see

I have known similar with a Pug, it turned out to be a bad batch of lamps, as I was getting them from the same place, the final time I was out on the road and had to replace it, so bought at twice the price from Shell Shop,

It was still going fine a year later
