A Quick One

Featured Replies

Well, two quick ones really

1. Is it possible to break the 200bhp mark on a standard 130 turbo? You know with the usual bits, induction, exhaust, cooling etc

2. Ive read somewhere the turbos are only rated to 150bhp is this true?

I feel like a n00b with this car

1. I don't know of anyone running an accurate 200bhp with a standard unit.

2. No.

Cheers matey, seems there's plenty of ****** out there to sift through :o you dont happen to know what the highest stock turbo figures are do you? I can imagine 190 is possible, and around 330 torks with a fried OEM clutch?

Oh yes, much reading to be done :)

Highest figures? Not that can of worms again! Depends who you talk to really. I'd say mid 180s myself. I'd put no more than 280lb/ft through the std clutch, although some are reporting a circa 300 output.

TBH anymore is useless without expensive drivetrain and suspension mods to help you use the power.

170/270 ish is about where you want to be with a nice custom map to make it as driveable as possible. Some may disagree but you can't genuinally put the power down to any advantage when you get above that.

Edit:

Whoa! Freak double post!

mine is 155 and 270,i can't put the power down,so i've purchased a spec clutch and a lsd, that should help.

i think, without going daft the standard clutch seems to be able to handle different outputs depending mostly on your driving style, some destroy the clutch on the first day of the map,and others such as neovr(i think) ran 100k on the same clutch with most of the miles done with a revo map on:thumbup:

Nail on the head there Gary. I've seen quite a few posts of late, from people clearly expecting remapped power to be available 100% of the time, in all gears. It simply isn't possible, especially with road conditions at this time of year.

Mechanical sympathy and throttle modulation are key to remapped driving happiness :D

1: not for long... my brothers car has run for about 2800km on around 200bhp whit race and daily driving... but he is well aware that it could breakdown at anytime.

That's true for a standard vRS as well. With the road conditions at the moment, you simply can't use all the power all the time.

And so it starts again - who's it been mapped by and which rolling road has the output been verified on?

I could make my car run 200bhp on the standard turbo, for a whole hour if i wanted, but changing turbos every day doesnt really appeal to me.

The kkk is rubbish.. they break running standard boost so think what its like running 200bhp.

I am running 170bhp which is just about right for this turbo.

Does you brother have a rolling road graph to prove this power hike?

Im having to get used to this again, coming from my A3 Quat :o forgot what torque steer was like lol

not the one we used i bet,the hearbreaker strikes again:rofl:

as a matter of fact yes i do here you go Putfile - Uploaded Picture

timeslip on a standard fabia if you dont count chip and air filter. do the math sumarum around 200bhp depends on wich stick you are counting on some a little less some a bit more...

That just looks like a receipt!

Can you do a bit of decoding for us please? Also, where are you based?

Steve

The first run of 14.47seconds 1/4 mile is very good.

The second you dont complete, is that because your brothers turbo went snap crackle and pop?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

ill translate it for you 14.4 on 1/4mile stretch.

the second slip is a 1/8mile race on a well prepped prepped track

FIY there hasnt been any problems whit this cars at all. still running on a daily basis

But does the receipt list power output, and torque??

Steve

Yer, it would be interesting to see the power curve for this car, if it can do a 1/4 mile in 14.47 seconds

That car had slick tyres which gives it a real advantage on the 1/4 mile. I reckon it's running 180/185bhp, but gains lots of time off the line by getting good traction. I'm really thinking of getting a pair of slicks for me to run on at the Pod.

Ok guys a lill hint for you... there is a stick they use in dragracing to measure how much HP the car get down to the pavement by how much its weights and how fast its running on the 1/4mile...

its give the real dragracers a hint to what they need to adjust... a daily driver can use it to but whit some variables but still it does NEVER show more then the car actualy has.

like for this one... the weights in at around 1320kg probably more whit my brother in but anyway if the car is able to do a 14.4sec@ 1/4mile its doesnt have anything less then 190BHP its impossible.

And that is meant as if he did a flawless run in a dragracing car PERFECTLY adjusted, that weights exactly the same and has 190bhp you will get in at 14.4 no better! and remember its should be a RWD car.

But this doesnt take into consideration the torque surley. The vrs isnt fast because of its bhp, it relies on the low down torque to get it moving.

That said 14.4 seconds is a good time.

Talked to my brother about the torque curve... its quite steep and max outs at 49x/nm.

A J Computing: 1/4 mile times!

Interesting really that given the vRS has such a badd off the line start that with even only 185odd bhp it claims such a low time - ...
