Alarm goes off on using remote unlocking

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum having recently bought a Skoda fabia elegance (03).

The car was not started for over week as I use the public transport to travel to work.

However, when I did try to unlock the car using the remote key, the alarm went off for over 30 seconds and then subsided. The alarm goes off even when I open the driver's door manually.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Chandra

Possibly down to low battery??

If it is the factory alarm I think that the alarm will go off if the door is unlocked manually and the ignition is not then turned on within a given time - can't remember how long - 30 secs. to a minute?

Think your right there mate.

Yeh the alarm does indeed sound if you do this, a security feature I think to ensure that if the door is opened without the use of the electronic key fob then the actual key is still present. I guess if the key is not present then its a possible sign of forced entry.

Many thanks for your comments. I do turn on the ignition (within 30 seconds) but neither does the alarm cease nor does the car start. Will have to call the mechanic over the weekend.

The car did display EPC warning lights about a month ago. However, this signal disappeared after some time. Wonder, if that was an early warning ?
