Done a Jason ;)

As several (at least 2 ;)) experts recommend to keep the standard airbox, but remove a few plasticky bits inside to improve airflow, I paid close attention to Phil when he removed the cover (yes, I had never seen the filter before :D) to see what they were like.

And as it appeared to be a really simple job even a numpty like me can do, I came home tonight, had dinner, and spend about 15 minutes in getting rid of the plastic things. Used a bit of sanding paper to make it nice and smooth and then spend 45 minutes (!) to get that bloody ring on (the one that connects the MAF pipe and the airbox)... Need some proper tools methinks :D.

Haven't driven it yet, and it probably won't make any difference, but at least I can now show blisters on my hands from doing something myself :).

For the instructions, see this page.

sounds good! I've ordered a k&n panel filter and I was planning to get rid of those plastic bits as I have heard it is the thing to do!!! But which bits and will it really make a difference?,,,,S'pose time will tell. P.s would appreciate any thoughts on this matter guys......

Run with a k&n all the air box mods and have cleaned up the front scoop and used gaffer tape to tape up the air flow into the engine bay. Certainly does know harm and yep it still flies!!!!!

I'm happy to report that the car still runs. Haven't noticed anything different so it might have been an unnessecary modification... In 3 nights we will know :)
