Power Loss in my 06 vRS

Featured Replies

Hi All

I own a 06 vRS with 21k on the clock , ( stock 150 bhp ) off late ( past two weeks ) I have noticed a considerable loss in power when floored between 2500 and 3000 rpm.

I did take the car to the authorised workshop where they visually inspected the hoses , but no tear or leakages detected. I also cleaned the air filter thinking that could be the culprit but no luck there either.

They then put it on the VAG , no fault codes relating to the engine either.

I did do a search on the forum and one of the other issues mentioned by users was the MAF sensor , if this sensor was faulty would it not show up on the VAG ?

Anu suggestions on what I should look at next ?

Thanks all !

So is it a Mk1 as they are 180 bhp standard?

Maf-Would not necessarally show up as faulty if the performance was reduced slightly.

If you disconnect the Maf plug and take for a spin. Performance is better then maf is probably knackered or dirty. If no difference or worse then Maf is probably fine.

Doesn't say where he's from, could be a Mk1 150bhp vRS as that's what they made in some countries.

Sorry, can't help with your problem though.

India perhaps 150 only down to 5hite petrol

Guessing from the name that the OP is Indian?

A good and cheap test for a suspected MAF fault is to disconnect it. If the MAF's faulty, the car will run better with it disconnected.
