anyway of putting a vrs back to standard

Featured Replies

Recently bought a Fabia VRS its been remapped. Is there anyway to put it back to standard and how much would it cost me? The insurance quotes im getting are stupid and im 29 with 8 years NCB.

Stupid quotes at 29?? im 19 with no NCB and a claim and its only £850 for me to insure my remapped VRS?

What was the quote?

who is that with?. Im getting quotes of £700-£800! Was only paying £400 on a VTS.

Admiral

Postcode does make a huge difference though and the value of the car has increased from the VTS, what quotes were you getting for a standard VRS?

ill give them a try see what price i get. Adrian Flux was £700! id rather put it back standard

admiral still £700 odd. Can you put it back to standard?

I believe so yes.. will prob cost the price of a remap £300 odd quid to put it back to standard, so there wouldnt be much point as the cost to put it to standard would cover the extra on the insurance

i take it the VTS was a saxo? if this is the case then the actual value of the car makes a big difference to the price you pay.

im paying more money on my fabia vrs than i did on my 330bhp volvo t5 purely because the vrs is worth more than £5k thats with aidrian flux

well im keeping the car for a few years so will be more cost effective to put it back to normal. Insurance is a joke these days.

yeah but a can get insured on a standard VRS for £400.

could you just not swap your ECU for a standed one or make a deal with someone???(or would this not work)

WTF how?

I'm 19 and have the ordinary 1.9tdi fabia, and pay £1600, with 1 years named driver discount.

That's the cheapest I could find, everyone else was £2000+. I tried admiral too, and adrian flux, breantacre etc...

I don't even have a bad post code. No claims or fines, or tickets

I'm 20, with no NCB, a claim, I live in the lowest risk postcode area, and I pay almost double that.

I made myself the main driver, came back at £1400

Added my mum who has a brilliant driving history as a secondary driver, brought it down to £1000

Added my step dad also with good license went to £850

Still nice and legal and a wee trick ;)

try Greenlight Insurance. Mine is cheap enough with its mods, mileage, and area.

If you know who mapped it in the first place, they may have a copy of the car's original map they can put back on it for a nominal fee. If not, you're better off going back to Skoda to make sure that you have the original map put on and not some tuner's idea of a stock map.

You could always try Chris Knott as they offer a Briskoda discount (as do Adrian Flux, actually) but I suspect you might be struggling to get it down if all the others have quoted over 700 quid. Or it might be down to your postcode....

Chris

My father, with a perfect driving history is on mine and it didn't lower it that much! Can't w8 to be 21, I've had quotes for about 750!

/\ should of added your mum too. :) and maybe your grand parents lol! :)

It does seem a bit expensive. I'm currently paying just over £550 for a mapped vRS, 4/5years younger than you and have a 1/4 of the amount of no-claims, includes business miles and some other changes too. Thats with elephant who are owned by admiral

I'd leave it mapped, it seems daft to pay money to have the car flashed back to standard. How much were you paying on your VTS?

Im 21, drink driving ban of 9months with a remapped VRS and knowone will touch me!

Im on my mums insurance which is £504 fully comp with protected no claims. Im happy with that!!
