Flashing drivers door light.

Featured Replies

Hi: I have a new model Octavia and the flashing light in the drivers door has stopped working. The car is locking ok with the flashing indicators but the door switch that you use to lock the car from inside isn't lit up like it used to be. It was working ok when I got the car but has stopped flashing. Does anyone know why it's stopped flashing and does this affect the security of the car.

The LED indicates that the dead locks are engaged. You have the option when you lock it remotely the default is one press of the remote to lock and engage deadlocks (light flashing), two presses to lock without dead locks (no light flashing). Dead locks will not operate if you lock the car from inside using the inside locking button. Dead locks mean that the interior handles will not open the door, for example if someone breaks a window they cannot open the doors. Check the operation and if you think it is faulty get it scanned for any fault codes.

The wire may have become disconnected or broken as it is quite flimsy. Or there is the possibility the LED has failed.

I am sure if you visited your dealer they could whip the door card off and check it. It should only take 10 mins or so.
