Noisy rear brakes

Featured Replies

The rear brakes on my Furby are really noisy to the point where people turn around and look to see what the noise is when I brake

I'm 99% sure this is down to the fact that I do mostly motorway miles and my brakes get very little use. The front and rears are still on the original disc's and pads!

Any ideas what I can do too try and sort this out? Im reluctant to just replace the rear disc's and pads as it'll probably do the same?

Thanks

Andy

Mine are noisey too! but only when reversing???? its not anything to do with all the motorway use! but not sure whats the cause??

Mine make a grinding/rubbing noise. I think thats just rust on the discs that get rubbed off after it rains

Heres a tip......... search on here for mooing brakes

There is a modified part out, its a balance weight which adds to the caliper hanger and stops the caliper resonating when reversing

;)

I think it may be due to the discs corroding slightly, especially with all this wet weather.

Mine gets like that every winter, though if you get the brakes stripped out and cleaned, that will probably improve things.

Mine sounded better after going in for a service this week.:doctor:

fpmsl:rofl: look how great you can look when you are search master:D

only kidding john, you are a proverbial font;)

Mine do this, but whether I'm reversing or going forwards. I'm sure it's not surface rust on the discs either because I've done a "test" where I stop using only the handbrake from about 70mph! If that won't clean the discs, nothing will!!
