Losing BT Broadband connection sometimes

Featured Replies

Quite often in the evening (doesn't seem to happen at any other time of day) we lose our BT Broadband connection. When reconnected it may stay on for a few seconds or a few minutes, or longer before going down again.

This can be somewhat annoying. :thumbdwn:

Could this be because the Internet gets very busy at this time of day, or is that just an urban myth?!

We have a 'BT Voyager 100 USB ADSL Modem' if it makes any difference. I haven't approached BT about this yet.

I know there are some clever IT type peeps out there who have helped before, anybody have any ideas?

Cheers,

Might be a dodgy router somewhere along the line, or it might be a problem with the modem...either way, get BT to fix it, and don't take "it's fine" as an answer... :)

Rob.

I'm getting the same problem with BT Broadband and I'm using a Intel Anypoint modem, it worse around 6.00pm I assume because thats when when the charges for dial up change from daytime to evening rates.

It does seem to have been getting worse over the last few weeks though.

I've got the BT Voyager 105, and apparently there has been loads of probs with it..... fixed mine by downloading the latest driver update for.... might be worth you trying the same, just in case :)

Hope this helps

Check all your splitters. Have you got splitters on ALL equipment attached to phone equipment?

If that is the case and you have ruled out any problems with all your equipment (even your phone fault can cause internet connection problems) then contact BT and insist on an engineer coming out. I went through all this to, being told on the phone there was no fault and when the engineer came out there was a fault in our phone line outside the house.

Know quite a few people around me who have ditched BT for just reasons and gone over to telewest.I have a 1.5MB service and touch wood it has not gone wrong in over 12 months! Could have the 3MB service but the swmbo wont pay the difference  still we are seriously quick as it is

Thanks for all the prompt replies :) . We do have splitters on all our phone equipment (that was an early problem on installation which we adressed).

I wonder if it is to do with the fact that I run a telephone extension cable from the bedroom to the office/study/piles of paper room to connect the computer up? That wouldn't explain why it only does it in the evening though.

There is a phone point in this room which is not activated - p'raps I'll get BT out to activate it and check the line as well.

Will also try the driver downloads...Thanks everyone.

Doesnt help you I know, but Telewest Blueyonder is heaps better than BT could ever do with ADSL. My 1 meg con has just be upgraded by them to 1.5 meg.

Any connectivity issuse I have had have always been delt with promptly, efficiently and politely. I would say that I can never see me returning to BT.

Possible' date=' and easy to prove by replacing the lead or moving the modem to a place where you can connect it directly to the main socket.
