Octavia 2001 TDI 90 bhp - auto locks doors after 1 minute

Featured Replies

I locked my self out of the car today, dooh!

Threw my jacket, mobile, keys on the passenger seat and went around to the driver door and before I could open it "click" the usual, except this time the keys were on the inside.

Luckily I was near home and I collect a spare door key from the GF

Is an adjustment needed or a new engine? :)

I would've thought the car would only re lock if a door hadn't been opened? I'll take your word for it though!

I'm pretty sure it should have done it with you opening the passenger door too....

Is the door switch on the passenger side working OK?

Mine doesn't matter which door I open to cancel the auto relock.

does the light go on when you open the door ? it could be a faulty door latch or wiring problem !

Sounds like a fault somewhere - mine cancels the autolock if you open any door or the tailgate.

Agreed. It sounds like a fault, probably in the convenience module.

Go on Ken, ruin his day.... go for the most expensive part to have failed!! Might just just the switch....! Guess it depends on if the light comes on or not....!

Sorry. I didn't mean so much the electronic box itself, as damp in the connectors to it.

Could you have accidently pressed the close button on the key when you threw your jacket in the car? I believe that this will lock the doors if the last door to close is any door other than the driver's door. Just a thought.
