i've sort of killed it!

Featured Replies

had a bit of a stack in the pink one on Saturday. sort of ripped a wheel off, and mangled a wishbone, and popped a drive shaft out. oops!

i've got a pic up on the other site (wont let me load it hear) i think the coilover is still ok, just the wishbone and the inner cv that i've mullured.

is the inner cv like the outer one, in that is it a sepperate part. or is it part of the drive shaft? drive shafts cost silly money.

Killed the rally car?

oooh :(

Oh dear. How did that happen?

Looks like the body etc is OK though.

How bad does it look in daytime? and does it look like it can be fixed?

  • Author

the body work is fine, only bumps from cars first owner.

as for how it happened. err,,, diesel and speed!!!

 Hope no-one was hurt mate.

Oh, b*ll*cks, sorry to hear that! Butts lists the inner CVJ for £80.... know any good scrappies?

If there are no driveshafts in the scrappy............

Skoda Favorit/Felicia Left Hand Driveshaft Complete-NEW on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-Feb-08 12:05:19 GMT)

and the wishbone.........

SUSPENSION WISHBONE ARM SKODA FELICIA 1994-2000 on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 20-Feb-08 16:20:00 GMT)

Looking at £100ish in all. If i were you i would get the wishbone which is a bargain and have a look in the scrapper for the the driveshaft. By the way is it definatley the inner cv you have knackered and not just the outer cv? If just the outer cv then this is straightforward enough........unless that is you have bent the driveshaft.

I reckon with a bit of elbow grease you could be back on the road for under £50 with the right scrappie

:)

by the way can you explain how it happened. did you skid on diesel?

did you skid on diesel?

yes mate i did.

think is, i was going at a "brisk" pace.

if i had been going at normal (for other people) speed, i probably would have still hit the curb but no were near fast enough to brake anything. but, me being me i wasn't. so i think its fair to say its a "6 an two 3's" affair.

spill was reported and cleaned up.

as for parts. getting a new wishbone from butts, and a compleat drive shaft with both CV's off ebay

wishbone with bushes = £50

drive shaft with CV's = £30

and my boss has lent me the (very) old works pick-up to drive.

Least your not hurt mate, and you have a temporary motor. hope you get it sorted soon

Ouch pinkskud...

that looks a bit tasty:eek:

glad no one was hurt. I'd probably just rebuild the front end-both sides- cant be more than about £400 in parts and a day or so's work...

about £100 all in to do one side, would be less to do both, but i'm trying to save my money to fit out this unit of mine.

but as you know, while shes off the road, i'm doing the head as well, so costs are going up an up.

Its a bite the bullet moment...

either the car gets the cash and time spent on it, or you part her out and start afresh...

  • Author

i only need to keep her on the road till i'v got the other one. and got it ready for the transplant.

  • 3 weeks later...

What's happened to your car now Pinkskud?

  • Author

all up an running my friend, needs the tracking setting up, but all in all she's fine.

gunna take some time to get used to the tall skinny tyers mind. anyone for some understeer???????

Lol - back to 13" wheels eh?! Yeah great fun!! Makes it a bit more of an adrenalin rush anyhow!

  • Author

just a little.

So your pinkskuds almost back on the road

Seen some Alloys 14" near me. Both VW.

Ones a VW Scala set and the others a more modern 5 spoke as seen on some similar age Polo 1.4s

Only thing is all my tyres look alright with decent tread levels.

  • Author

humm, was thinking of 14's

think i'm gunna try an find some cheep 15's first, cuz i still have a set of four 15" tyers in good nick that cost me £180

kinda want to use them up first.

I suppose I could stash my old wheels in my uncles shed when he's not looking :D
