Booost Gauge...... With pics

Featured Replies

Well today i have been mostly re-organising my dash to incorperate my boost gauge.

Ive moved the headunit to the bottom slot and made a holder for the gauge.

Might move the parrot 3100lcd screen to the gap to the left of the boost gauge this afternoon.

Heres a pic, sorry for my rubbish photography skills before someone says :D

Looks very stock.

Afraid I did go for the plug & play option with my gauge setup, but for me my car is nearly always about function over form. :D

looks good mate - be nice to see how it looks with the parrot fitted flush to the left - just check you can see the screen clearly at that angle - may need a small plastic wedge to tilt it a bit.

Not really if u know what your doing, took a pro like me  about 30mins to do.

This particular boost guage is a digital 3 bar one.

IT has a pickup which is connected via a small vac tube to the boost pipes just before they enter the inlet manifold.

The unit itself needs a +ve a -ve and a +switched power supply.

Is there a need for a boost gauge other than aesthetic?

I was just wondering that...

Do diesels have that much boost that you could see much movement?

Wheels look good by the way...

My rear windows were that tint when i first got it from work, but i removed them as they were too dark, it looked like a van!

How do you get on with them mate?

Much movement  They generally boost more than petrols

Mine boosts to 1.7 bar and holds that to about 4200rpm where it drops to about 1.3 bar :D

Thanks, car just need lowering to suit ;)

Yer I liked them with the standard wheels, but they dont suit the white wheels.......... Been thinking of ripping them off for a while. Might go do it now

I think mine looks better without...personal preferance etc..

Yeah mine needs lowering...ive priced some eibach up today...its tempting!

Ive been banned from buying anymore kW Stuff at work  Must have sold near on 2k worth

I recon i am gunner still try and get some 35mm springs and dampers before i leave

Where do you work?

Just wondered with you ordering KW stuff...

Hey Skud - How much can you get replacement springs for the KW V1 for? ;)

PS: As for boost movement! Until you have seen a boost gauge on a TDI go way past 2.5 bar, you never realise why a 20psi gauge is highly unsuitable for a TDI. I've maxxed this baby out, although steady max boost is 1.8 bar (when not in limp mode. ) PS: I am a fan of a needle for a boost gauge though. Means a bit more to me than digital, yet I prefer digital for other readouts... odd, eh? :D

Hmm...Are they easy to fit?

Might consider one...

Just for asthetics mind...!

Easy enough. :D

Needed:

1) Big drill bit to drill through dash. ;)

2) Boost pipe feed from intercooler system

3) Electric feed if backlit

4) dashpod or similar to the above

Mine is a bit brutal, but effective. ;)

Triple gauge pod for boost, EGTs, water temps & oil temps

DSCN1481.jpg

PS: boost pod has been levelled out now. :o

Single pod for oil pressure. :D

DSCN1480.jpg

HELL!

That is brutal!

Hmm...might have a look at getting one after the remap etc...not much point on a semi standard car eh!
