watched an episode of wheeler dealers tonight and a guy sold a white rapide all kitted out to a farmer type who would only buy it if he took the body kit off, so eventually he sold it to the farmer for £450 and bought the bodykit back for £50, Very strange deal.

The chap was a little bit of a skoda obsessive, collecting registration numbers etc, thought he might be on here:P.

I think his name was Rob.

I've seen the episode you're referring too, it was several years ago. Was rather odd! I don't know who the guy was either.

It was filmed on 1st august 1997 around my cousins workshop in Barnack, near stamford, Lincs.The chap who bought the car off me lived in Dowsby, near Bourne.They really did edit that a lot and I reckon did it in a anti-Skoda way when Mike Brewer ripped the bits off the dash of that rapid and revved it to 5000 rpm saying how 'noisy' it was.

What channel was it on?

Im about 3 stone heavier now and a lot greyer! And ive got 2 more Kids, Corey Laurin aged 5 in september and Lydon Klement aged 3 next month!

Ha I was right then! (on the Laurin & Klement Thread) Ive actually got that episode on tape ( I tend to tape anything that I know is going to feature Skodas!) Have you had any more bother regarding vandalism? IIRC you had the car 'done over' not long before it was sold??

That was filmed back in 1997 and have moved a few times since! No more vandalism problems.The bloke who did it was a junkie high on something.Decided to pull a knife on me:eek:.After I got away from him and into the house he took it out on my car.(Claimed on insurance).He got done for it and had to pay me £960 compensation too:D. (I only paid £100 for the car, got the car back plus £400 from the insurance company, sold it for £450 and got £960 compo - not a bad deal:).

The pratt I sold it to kept the bodykit in the end.We had already done the deal, then the film crew asked us to do it again.A whole day driving up and down the A1 near Stamford with cameras on the windscreen etc was a lot of fun, especially as I got paid £150 for it too.

Now they are repeating it, I wonder if i should ask for royalties:rolleyes:

Its been on quite a few times since then , Usually on one of the Discovery channels 250 , 251 , 252 or Discovery Turbo 523.

PS its 'Deals on Wheels' not Wheeler Dealers , Mike Brewer looks slightly 'rotund' in a few of the early shows...lol

There is a program on discovery turbo called classic marques and that has a prog dedicated to Skodas, misses a lot out , especialy estelles and rapids
