Fiat 500 1.3 m/Jet Diesel

Featured Replies

A brand new Fiat is still a Fiat with cheap and shoddy shockers etc.

:dull:

I have a 10 year old Punto JTD that would laugh at that statement. Had it for 4 years, paid £1800 for it and it's been great. It needs a bit of love every now and again, but then it has done 96k....

I like the 500 its a great looking car, far better than the mini!!!

Been thinking about getting one to replace the fabia, as I'm not a fan of the new fabia. I ex's step brother had a 1997 punto 1.2 and I can say that took no end of abuse and never serviced run it without oil once until the head finally went! Repaired and then written off (typical). So fiats are not what they used to be.

Ive owned loads of Fiats, and even the older ones Ive had new from 1997 didnt have rattles until a fair few miles, unlike my Skoda!

I did have a 500, a 1.4 16v Lounge from June 2008 until March 2009, it was hit up the rear and then a week after being repaired was hit in the side so I sold it on.

The engine was a real peach, but the six speed gearbox took up so much room that they had to increase the steering lock on 1.4s and it was dreadful. The suspension on the 1.4 was very hard too. The quality throughout was superb, it was much better bult than my Fabia II. Underneath, the componenets didnt look as hard wearing as the Skoda and the underbody rustproofing wasnt as good either, in fact after 6 months the rear suspension looked very tired.

I didnt buy another as needs changed and I wanted a small estate, hence the Fabia. If I was to have another 500 I would go for the 1.3 diesel... the suspension is softer and the diesel is a lovely drive.

Ouch really unlucky with 2 accidents, I previously owned a MK1 remapped vRS, & now own a Diesel 500 Sport,

Having owned the Fiat since Sept 2008 and having 20 K miles , Whilst the car still looks good, ride is similar to the Fabia, and build quality is very comparable to the Mk1 Fabia, I am still VERY disappointed with the fuel economy it is no where near the claimed 65mpg, it is the same as i was getting from the Fabia 49 - 52 mpg.

Whilst the Fiat really looks good, I miss the torque of the Fabia.

You could always get a remap....... I would

edit, check out the tuning boxes here http://www.tmcmotorsport.com/CarProducts.aspx only £121 for the 1.3 m/jet gives 90 bhp and 175 nm (for the 75bhp engine) gives 107bhp and 230 nm for the 90 bhp engine, but I don't think that was in the 500....
