Milltek Cat-Back

Featured Replies

right im getting a SS Milltek Cat-Back exhaust for my Furby RS, just wondering if they are a straight fit to standard cat and what do they sound like as i dont want anything too noisey. Also would fitting be possible without going to a Garage, i.e doing it on the drive lol??

Thx,

Mark

If you have zenons then the Miltek will foul on the angle sensor on the rear axle, fixed by either bending or fabricating a bracket. Mine is a full system and is noiseier than std but not irritatingly so (even when driving at speed for '000 of miles didn't get tireing ;) Just out of interest are you sticking with the std cat and if so why bother with the Miltek?

Cant help you with the fitting. I've got the full system too, sounds the part when revved, but barely noticable when cruising.

With the standard cat there will be hardly any noise increase or hardly any power increase.

Get the full system, you know you want to.

Yep, like the look of the Milltek and like i said i just aint got the money for the Sports Cat yet... :(

ive got the cat back at the moment going to get the sport cat and downpipe also when funds allow.

Xenon's is the right spelling :)

thought so just clearing things up lol

There is a Milltek on Ebay going for sale as new condition 2000 miles. Might save some pennies and be able to get a sports cat and downpipe too.

I have the full system fitted and I waited till I could afford the whole system and got it fitted in one go.

I see great minds think a like!

thx will be keeping an eye on this, cheapest place i have found so far is £212.68 Brand new

cheapest i found it was at a place called roadrunner motorsport in northampton

Spose the athetics thing comes into play too.

I like the look of the twin pipe set up, much more suited to the car/bumper..

Saving up for a full system, not long to go!

It would be if you took the apostrophe out! :P

Does look nice the Milltek; I'm tempted myself :)

Now this is where I am confused. Everyone seems to say that on a Furby with Xenons the levelling sensor on the rear beam fouls the pipe. But on mine it doesn't?? It has been on for about 3K miles now and there has not been a single rattle/bang or anything. It has been to Awesome GTI since (for 4 wheels alignment work) when they thought it would foul the sensor but they agreed that it didn't. Maybe I am just special lol! :)

Sorry to hijack the thread anyway, I'l get my coat lol!

No hijack at all Dave, it's useful info :)

Now all we have to work out is why! Perhaps the sensor is positioned slightly differently on some cars? I have xenons too, and it's certainly something I'll be thinking about if/when I come to change exhausts.

Steve

The Miltek exhaust will still fit with the sensor as is but (on my car at least) either the tail pipes sit rather low down away from the bumper cut out, or the pipe is very nearly touching the heat sheilding around the sensor box. The box can be just bent out of the way but this throws the sensor out, Jabba decided to fabricate a bracket for mine and slightly bend the arm to bring back in line, the xenons :P where then recalibrated on vagcom. hth

Right right, I see fella. That will be why when I first had it fitted the tailpipes hung down a lot. Since then the exhaust has been 'tweaked' and it now sits perfectly in the bumper recess as it should, without having to relocate the sensor. Glad we cleared that one up anyways, I wish I'd known that when I bought the Milltek lol! Oh well live and learn...
