Hi boys and girls

just joined the community, I've had an 1600 fsi Octavia for two years and I think it's about time to look under the bonnet. Can some kind soul tell me how to remove the cover from the engine. I don't want to start rummaging around with tyre levers etc if there's an easier way. I know it's a bit wimpish but I'd rather get it right.

welcome along, have you looked to see if there are any tell tale clips or screws?

If it's like my Fabia vRS, just give it a firm tug from the end nearest the front and it comes out of it's suckery popper type thing and then I pull mine towards the front and it comes away in your hands.

Being Diesel, not 100% that it will be the same, but have a look.

No I can't see any clips or fasteners on the top or around the sides so I guess it must just pull off somehow. I'm reluctant to pull too hard in any one direction in case I break the cover but it doesn't seem to have any movement that I can feel. I'll keep looking.

I think the covers screwed on somewhere.

Seen my mechanic unscrew an engine cover on a Pug 307.

Have fun under the bonnet

I haven't removed my engine cover. I just do the standard checks on mine.
