Right I hope someone might have an idea about this. There is a rattle coming from somewhere under the bonnet. I have spent ages looking but can't figure it out.

It happens between 1500 - 2000 rpm. It is not very loud but enough to be noticeable. It is not a metallic rattle more a plastic sound with a slow vibration.

Any suggestions as to what it could be gratefully recieved.

sounds like what i have mate. its going in the garage next week to get sorted. i think its transmission related cos it doesnt do it in reverse. am i right in saying its worse when the engine is under load, like going up a hill? also do you find its much worse when the engine is cold? ill keep you posted what they come up with

could be the orange clip that hold the peg for the bonnet.

Could be. Not really noticed a difference under load but will have a look later.

Is the engine cover secured down correctly?

Just run down to the car removed engine (cover!!!) then took for a spin round the block. rattle still there. Doh. Thanks for the thought though

does it sound like a drill for drilling a hole in the road?

right ive got the car booked in with simpsons on wed. they said it should be done by thurs fri so ill post my findings!

reminds me of the old'Candid Camera' sketch with Jonathan Routh, when they removed the engine from a car, rolled/drove it downhill onto a forecourt and asked the pump attendant to check the oil. Giving my age away a bit
