Coolant system

Less than 6 months ago the water pump on my car poped, which obviously needed replacing. This fortunatly was quickly repaired, however now one of the pipes has gone meaning more labour and money. My question therefore is is there a problem with the cooling system, is it my driving, or is it just bad luck? Also I was told 5-10 days to get the new pipe in which suggests there arn't any in the country, is this normally the case?
