Tyre issues

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having some issues with my tyres,

over the course of a few weeks 3 of my tyres will lose around 10psi and the other one will lose nearly 20psi.

the tread on all of them is good so i don't really want to replace them.

how much am i roughly looking at to get them checked out and re-sealed?

many thanks,

Shaun.

might be the valves mate, just put sum spit on the valves and see if there is any air escaping, if so then get them replaced, or do it yourself,

Might be the trouble, and best check them before getting the tyres checked.

A decent tyre fitter will check for rim and valve leaks for free (conditional on getting the work of any replacements or re-seating that needs done).

cheers for the replies guys, i'll nip down the local centre tomorrow.

Some time back I had a tyre valve prob, everytime I removed the dust cap the valve let air out.

Visited local tyre depot and assumed the valve was duff, all they did was to screw the valve back into its housing. Silly thing is I could have done this myself with the tyre pressure guage!

Another posibility is oxidation of the wheel where it seals against the tyre, not unknown with aluminium alloy wheels and easily cured.
