factually nearly all of that is 100% correct :)

poor fabia drivers, little fabia's, 50+mpg, group 9 insurance is all correct.

octavia beating performance is perfectly fine as long as its not a 1.8T octavia and thats actually been proved on more than one occasion :)

Would a standard oct 1.8t beat a remapped fabia VRS? If they were both 180BHP wouldnt the fabia win being the torquer of the two? Of would its heavyness weigh it down?

And we now know exactly how much you love it. :D

I'll never again be able to open the bonnet and look at the PD160 intake in the same way now.

don't know to be honest as i have only witnessed races with either a remapped 150bhp octavia both FWD and 4WD and the fabia couldn't keep up. even at trax the year before last i passed jason on hanger straight in my octavia that has been rolling roaded at more than one place at only 200bhp and jason was running 220bhp according to jabba and we exited the corner at the same time at the same speed.

at trax last year gary lost out to my mazda even in a straight line(which amazed me) and that is a full time AWD 150bhp 148lbft 1.6T weighing about 1150Kg i think so a little lighter than a fabia but with much higher transmission loses and gary getting 150bhp ish on a RR probably less power too :)

On the other side of the coin though i have compared my Golf(1250kg stage 2 turbo 221bhp) to a mates 1.8T ibiza remapped 200bhp and as the owner himself said i was pulling away hard on the straights. Interesting how different outcomes with different cars:confused:

The Octavia is a better car.

If I wasnt worried about MPG and could actually have got insured I would have got a MK1 1.8T

Well you only have to look at the prices of the fabia and the octy to see its prob a better car.

Still love my furby tho!

o yes i wasnt getting at octy owners which is why i said octy and not octy vrs ;)

I think the fabia vrs does what it says on the tin, practical and exciting.

Yes its fun but for performance the 20v turbo would **** all over the fabia. (see this truth from a mapped fabia owner ;))

Had mine been a 2.0l fabia i would have to argue that the octy vrs wouldnt stand a chance

it certainly is odd, my experiences are from a couple of trax track sessions and playing about on an airfield so not a silly motorway race against someone that didn't know he was racing :D

maybe yours is mapped better and/or makes a lot more low down torque?

or maybe i simply drive like a nutter when on track and others are more careful and considerate to their vehicles? :o

i would have also expected that ibiza to pull away from myself what with it having(allegedly) the same power but lower loses and less weight, maybe the dyno where your car made 221bhp was under reading by a little bit and his RR had over read. we will never know.

but at the end of the day if you have fun its all that counts :)

Both cars were done on the same dyno on the same day at a RR day:thumbup:

I've had lots of plays with a few 200bhp factory cars and the outcome has always been the same against my car:D

The map i'm running has high boost to near the redline. Peak power starts at 4k and only loses 3bhp going into the redline, i think i have a good map.

I sorry i dont like Fords.

I had an 52reg ST220. other than the looks, i thought it was a bag of crap.

My octy vRS walks all over it.

Fuel, Insurance, build quality, and most definatly speed.

Really sorry but thats all rubbish.

How do i know?

Well i drive Octavia VRS's both old and new versions (Standard), in my day to day work. Bearing in mind im a repsonse driver (Advanced)

And i also own a Mondeo ST220 ( Standard).

And i know for a fact the VRS pulls off quicker, after that though, the ST220 is quicker, so the VRS does NOT **** all over them.

Just a fact thats all.
